• Thomas M. Case, age 95, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, in Menno Haven Nursing Home. Born July 4, 1916 in Boonton, NJ, he was th son of the late Robert M. and Ola M. Young Case. After 15 years as an Production Engineer of aircraft radio equipment, Tom retired in 1981 from Aircraft Radio Corporation, a subsidiary of Cessna Aircraft. Tom was a member of the Boonton YMCA and the Boonton United Methodist Church, where he had been a member since 1930 and enjoyed singing in the choir; In addition he spent his free time fishing, watching sports, painting pictures, and reading financial reports. Surviving are two daughters; Patricia Shafer of Chambersburg, PA; Judith Scilipoti (husband Michael) of Fayetteville, PA; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Irene Walsh of Sparta, NJ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen N. Lockwood Case. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Penn Hall Chapel, Chambersburg, PA and at the Boonton United Methodist Church Boonton, NJ. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. • Mr. Jack H. Geisel, Sr., 88, of Quaker Valley Road, Alum Bank, died at 12:38 AM, Sunday, January 20th, 2013 at the home where he was born on Wednesday, September 10, 1924. He was the son of the late Vernon G. and Sue E. (Barefoot) Geisel. On June 30, 1947, he married Betty J. (Claycomb) Geisel. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Jack H. Geisel, Jr. husband of Sandra (Parkinson) Geisel, Schellsburg; Son- Thomas L. husband of Kay (Jefferis) Geisel, Chambersburg; Daughter- Linda L. wife of Jeffrey Winegardner, Schellsburg. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Pamela Styer wife of Rusty Styer, Thomas Geisel, II husband of Nicki (Shively), Jessica Carbaugh wife of Phillip Carbaugh, Abigail Geisel and fiance, Christian Santos, Gisele College wife of JesseCollege and Adam Winegardner husband of Kelly (Fisher); six great grandchildren, Justin Styer, Jarrod Styer, Jacob Styer, Atlee Geisel, Jack Geisel and Jack College; four step grandchildren, Tommy Riffle, Sean Riffle, Katie Boryan and Steve Hershberger and three step great grandchildren, Gabrielle & Geonna Riffle and Kamden Hershberger He was preceded in death by four brothers, an infant, Robert, Fred Geisel, Dick Geisel and Louis Geisel and by a sister, Mary Jane Whetstone Jack was a lifetime member of the Alum Bank United Methodist Church, where he was formerly a member of the choir and sang with the Men's Quartet. He was a 1942 graduate of Pleasantville High School and a 1943 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Jack served in the US Army during W.W.II with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division. His unit served at Normandy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland and Germany, receiving four bronze stars. Jack was a funeral director for 66 years, the fourth in a family of ten funeral directors. He also served the community for over 22 years with the Bedford County Coroner's Office. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Coroners Association, the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and the Pleasantville VFW Post #9219. Jack was the last charter member of the Chestnut Ridge Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was also a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory and the Jaffa Shrine Temple in Altoona. A Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 4340 Quaker Valley Road, Alum Bank, PA 15521 at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013 with Rev. David Zona & Rev. Thomas Strandburg officiating. • Thomas Michael “Tom” Henn, 64, of Chambersburg, passed away due to complications of heart disease on Friday, April 28, 2017 in Georgetown (SC) Memorial Hospital. Born on September 9, 1952 in New Brighton, PA, he was a son of the late John Henn and Helen Podnar Henn. A U.S Army veteran, Tom served two tours in Vietnam. Upon returning to the States, he earned his B.S. degree in Education from Shippensburg University, and later earned his Master’s equivalency in Education. An outstanding offensive guard on the Shippensburg University Football team, he was inducted into the SU Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. He taught science at CASHS and the Career Tech, retiring in 2012. He also coached football at CASHS for 24 years. Tom’s memberships included the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, Hume McNeil Byers AmVets Post 224, Marine Corps League, Loyal Order of the Moose Post 842, the 40 et 8 Club, the Chambersburg Club, and the Knights of Columbus Post 1426, where he was a 3rd Degree Knight. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Hewitson Henn, whom he married in 1990; his faithful dog, Rosie; sister Donna Engle, brothers, John Henn and Rev. Fr. William Henn; sister – in – law, Lois McErlean and brothers – in – law, Robert McErlean and Ray Hewitson; nieces and nephews, Lori Marazzi, Lisa Engle, Jon Engle, Patrick McErlean, Karen McErlean, Sean McErlean, Kevin McErlean, Christopher Hewitson, Randi Hewitson, Clay Hewitson, and Jessica Hewitson. • Willis C. “Red” Picking, age 84, of Penn Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 in Cedars Hospice, Monroeville, PA after a brief illness. Born December 19, 1927, in Newark, NJ, the son of the late D. Walter R. Picking and Ethel Coble Picking, Red grew up in Chambersburg. A U.S. Army veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict Red served his country honorably. A 1953 graduate of the Gettysburg College, Red earned his B.A. degree in chemistry and began his career, first as a chemist with Allied Chemical Company in Philadelphia, then as a supervisory chemist, and later as a technical liaison with Gulf Oil Corp. in Harmarville, where he retired in 1983. Red enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, reading, ballroom dancing, traveling the US in his motorhome, and spending time with his family and friends. In the early 1970’s, he was instrumental in the organization of the Rescue #6 Ambulance Service in Penn Twp., where he was a life member and served as it’s first board secretary. He was a member of the Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, in Chambersburg and the American Legion, Post 331 in Trafford. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Lois J. Everette Picking; a daughter, Margaret E. Picking of Greensburg, PA; a son, Dr. David C. Picking of Allegheny Twp.; and a grandson, John E. Picking of Allegheny Twp.
