Jimmie Lee Harris
Mrs. Jimmie Lee Harris, 90, was born June 13, 1929, and transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her Son, David Harris, November 20, 2019.
She leaves to cherish her memory, 6 children: Ervin Harris, Robert Harris (Hazel), Terry Harris, Calvin Harris, Sharon Harris-Johnson and Mary Edwards; 13 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins,and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 12:00 P.M. Arrangements were announced by P.K. Miller Mortuary.
Jean Smith
Jean Smith, 76, of Pine Bluff, was released from her earthly pain and suffering Wednesday night and went to Heaven. She was surrounded in love by her family at her home. Jean was born on February 21, 1944, to the late George and Lura Brown in Pine Bluff.
She grew up in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1962. She married H.E. Smith on December 15, 1966.
Before her marriage, she graduated from secretarial school and was a secretary. She was a homemaker during much of her marriage, but as her children became older she went to work at Olive Street Baptist Church’s day care. She later worked at the Pine Bluff School District as a teacher’s aide and as a cafeteria worker.
After her husband’s death in 1997, she joined the Jack Jones Juvenile Detention Center, working in the kitchen. Besides food, she dished out love and firm guidance to the children who came through its doors. She called them “my little darlings.”
She retired from full-time work in May 2015. However, she missed the children and her beloved co-workers. Jean returned to work part-time in 2016 and 2017. Due to health reasons, she retired permanently December 31, 2017.
She was a member of The Bridge Church, after being a long-time active member at Hazel Street Baptist Church and Olive Street Baptist Church.
Jean’s deepest and strongest love was for her children. She was a fierce advocate and champion for her family.
Jean loved to travel with her family, including trips to Disney World, Boston, and Branson, and going antiquing. She was happy sitting in her recliner reading a book with her two cats beside her. After retirement, she enjoyed going to the Strachota Senior Center where she made new friends and enjoyed the activities there. Jean never met a stranger, quickly telling people that she was a hugger and enveloping them in a warm, sincere hug.
As one dear friend said, “She was a bright light in dark places for everyone around her.” She brought joy and kindness to those who knew her and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, DeAnn and Jeff Stead of Independence, Missouri, and son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Jamie Smith of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, granddaughter, Bree Smith, her in-laws and many friends.
The family appreciates the care and support that Jean received from those who tended her with love at UAMS, JRMC, The Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills and Hospice Angels.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Brother Mike Manning and Pastor Philip Ethridge officiating. Jean will be in state Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Robinson’s. All current state covid-19 guidelines will apply.

Jimmy Caldwell
Jimmy Wayne Caldwell, age 80, of the Hardin Community near Pine Bluff passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Born September 11, 1939 at Pine Bluff, he was a son of the late Lee Otis Caldwell and Inez Duncan Caldwell Taylor.
Jim was a carman for the Cotton Belt, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific Railroads. He retired on April 12, 2001, after 41 years of service. He was a member of Hardin Baptist Church and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and the Arkansas National Guard. “Catfish” was a mentor to young people and friend who was loved by many, whom he considered a part of his family.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by two sisters, Dianne Smith and Joyce Elmore; and a brother, Everett Caldwell.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeanne Allred Caldwell, who he married on April 1, 1960, at Central Baptist Church in Pine Bluff; two children, Regina Weeks and husband Roger, and Phillip Caldwell; along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 18, 2020, 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with Brother Johnny Taylor officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
