Colonial Forge girls place second at Region 6B track championships (2024)

STAFF REPORTS

Kate Loescher’s victory in the 1,600 meters helped Colonial Forge’s girls to a runner-up team finish in the Region 6B track meet that concluded at Stafford on Thursday.

Loescher broke the tape in 4:50.33 and also finished third in the 800 for the Eagles, who scored 94 points to 100 for team champion Gainesville. Patriot won the boys’ team title.

Other local event winners on Thursday included Colonial Forge’s Matt Fisher (boys’ 400), Brooke Point’s Jeremiah Thompson (boys’ long jump) and North Stafford’s Sascha Cotton (girls’ long jump).

The VHSL Class 6 state meet will be held May 31-June 1 in Newport News.

Atlee easily swept the team titles at the Region 4B championships, which concluded Wednesday at King George.

Local event winners included Courtland’s Michelle Pendleton (girls’ discus) and Eastern View’s Ardarian Diamond (boys’ 110 hurdles).

The VHSL Class 4 state meet will be held May 31-June 1 in Lynchburg.
